10,002 and counting…

My anti-hero, Robin Hartley, is doing very well thank you very much. He’s shacked up with that bird Cara I was telling you about. Very soon, I know – perhaps even too soon (we shall have to wait and see) – but it’s my story and I’m in charge. And I kinda wanted to get to the juicy stuff, ya know? I’ve got a pretty good idea of what that juicy stuff is gonna be (I’ll sneak in at least one more ‘special’ frappuccino), but what I’m really enjoying is just letting the bastard free within some really light structure and seeing what the hell he gets up to.

Of course the biggest thing he’s done so far is to give me 10,002 words – quite a huge achievement if you know me even slightly well. It’s a bloody strange feeling writing so much, so fast – the strangest feeling being that you just don’t have the time to go back and critique what you’ve written even an hour earlier.

As a result I’m not sure I’ll be letting anyone read it. I’m even toying with the idea of printing out a copy, deleting it from the computer and then burning it on a beach in Cornwall at the end of the month. But who knows – maybe Robin will surprise me some and I’ll want him to stick around after November.

Regardless, it’s been damn good up to this point and hopefully the next three weeks produce the 39,998 words I need to finish. You’ll have to put up with these Robin Hartley posts in the meantime, I’m afraid. My leetle brain doesn’t have any time or space for much else at the mo’.

Wish me luck!

(Oh, and as promised, this post has indeed come from an iPhone – 300 words in 25 minutes! And it is WICKED).
